I have trained and worked as a counsellor and psychotherapist for several years in a number of settings, for charitable organisations and in private practice. The work has given me the opportunity to meet with adults and young people presenting with a wide range of issues, and to support them in making the changes that can help improve their lives.

As well as working in private practice, I’m also a Director and therapist at Male Survivors Berkshire, providing support for survivors of sexual abuse and trauma, and working and volunteering at No5, an organisation offering free counselling for young people in the Reading area.

I maintain regular and ongoing professional development and supervision in accordance with BACP regulations.

What I Offer

I am committed to providing a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment where together we can talk things through.

Our work together can be on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of enabling you to enhance your life and to live it more fully.

I am experienced in helping clients with a wide range of issues.

Approach and orientation

Offering a humanistic approach, my theoretical orientation is Existential, integrating Person-Centred and Gestalt ideas.

This means my work is rooted in the ‘here-and-now’ of how we live our life. Past experiences and relationships are explored in terms of the impact they have on the person we are today.

Working this way encourages an honest exploration of attitudes and assumptions alongside the free expression of feelings and opinions. But for this to happen the relationship I develop with clients remains of the utmost importance throughout my work.

Philosophy on Counselling and Psychotherapy

One of the primary aims of existential therapy is to help people face the anxieties of life head on and to embrace the freedom of choice humans have, taking full responsibility for these choices as they do so. I believe in helping individuals to live more authentically and to be less concerned with superficiality. By encouraging clients to take ownership of their lives, to find meaning and to live fully in the present, I hope to facilitate change and growth.
