Hello, thank you for looking at my profile. I’d like to tell you a little about who I am and how I work. If you feel that I may be the right person to work with you or your child I would be very happy to talk with you. The most important ingredient in successful therapy outcome is the relationship you have with your therapist, so I want you to be sure that you’re working with the right person for you.
I have worked for many years with a local charity in Wokingham as a young person’s and adult counsellor, having completed my post qualification certificate in working with Young People with No.5. As well as my counselling background, I have a First Class degree in Developmental Psychology, from Reading University. I used these two approaches to look at developmental, and social influences of behaviour and emotions.
I have worked in a local sixth form school as a counsellor, and have also designed and delivered workshops for parents on issues such as self harm, anxiety and transgender issues. My quest for new techniques lead me to qualify as a Clinical Hypnotherapist after working as a counsellor for many years as well.
Therefore, as an Integrative counsellor (which means I combine more than one approach – Person Centred and Psychodynamic Modalities around a Relational Framework) and a Clinical Hypnotherapist I believe that I can create an individual therapy that is suited to your needs. Every individual is unique, so I believe your therapy should be too. I spend a lot of my time taking part in CPD to further enhance the service I can give to you.
While qualifications are important, and grounding in ethics essential, I believe what I offer to clients is a real warmth and welcome safe space where they can truly be themselves. The power of being really heard and understood cannot be underestimated. Undertaking therapy is a big financial and emotional commitment, but the rewards can be beyond measure. I’d be honoured to walk with you on your journey.
