Lucinda Rowley
What I specialise in
Trauma
I work with complex trauma (CPTSD & PTSD) implementing an integrative approach which focuses on the experience of the individual.
Addiction
I support people and families who are struggling with addiction, whether it be themselves or their loved ones.
Relationship difficulties
I work with people who are struggling with their intra-personal and inter-personal relationships.
About me
I am a UKCP-accredited Integrative Humanistic Psychotherapist with a number of years' experience working across mental health, addiction and therapeutic settings.
I began my career working as a coach, supporting young adults as they transitioned back into everyday life following residential rehabilitation. I continued this work while undertaking my MSc in Humanistic Psychotherapy, before going on to work for an addiction charity, providing therapy to individuals struggling with drug and alcohol addiction.
I later developed a suicide prevention programme, which grew into a counselling and group support service for people experiencing suicidal ideation and self-harm.
These experiences have given me a broad understanding of the many different ways distress, trauma and difficult life experiences can affect us, as well as the importance of creating a therapeutic relationship in which people feel genuinely heard and understood.
What I offer
I offer weekly individual therapy sessions of 50 minutes.
As an integrative humanistic psychotherapist, I draw upon a range of therapeutic approaches rather than working from a single model. This allows me to tailor our work to you as an individual, taking into account your personality, experiences, relationships and the circumstances that have brought you to therapy.
My work is trauma-focused, which means I hold an understanding of the ways trauma and difficult experiences can continue to shape our emotions, relationships and bodies in the present.
Approach and orientation
I aim to offer a warm, non-judgemental and collaborative space where you can bring your whole self and feel that your experiences are taken seriously. I believe deeply in our capacity for growth and change, and I do not approach therapy from the perspective that there is something within you that needs to be "fixed". Instead, we can work together to understand the experiences and patterns that have shaped you, while exploring what you may want to change or move towards.
I bring a depth of both personal and professional experience to my work, but above all, I believe that therapy begins with the relationship between us. Before any theory, technique or diagnosis, we are two human beings meeting together and trying to understand what is happening for you.
